One of the main goals of our ministry is to empower students to SERVE THE WORLD.

BACKYARD MISSION TRIP

Dates: Thursday April 8th - Sunday April 11th 2010sm// i heart wa sq - sm i heart wa

What: A few days of being servants to the Eastside & Seattle, with your LifeGroup, for the singular purpose of making the name of JESUS more famous.

You may remember when we did this 2 years ago... it was awesome! Instead of going to Mexico or Bangladesh or wherever, we are staying local because "missions" is not always 1000 miles away. It's mostly right here at home.

We will stay at host-homes around the Eastside at night, serve the Eastside & Seattle by day (we've got great projects being formed right now), and we'll be having a blast in the evenings.

The trip starts Thursday evening, April 8th (7pm) & ends Sunday April 11th (1pm pick up time).

As for money, it's $69. (THIS WAS JUST REDUCED FROM $99; WE'VE CUT SEVERAL ITEMS FROM THE BUDGET TO MAKE IT MORE AFFORDABLE!) On the registration (link above) you will be required to lay down a non-refundable $20 deposit. But we hope you will RAISE the rest of the money by asking for support from friends/family/neighbors/enemies. For that reason, we are not offering scholarships like we do for camps... Please see our "How to Raise Support" sheet.

Any questions, email .

OCC 2012: RISK

3 Year Student Fund/Faithraiser

What: The Students at OCC are teaming up with partners in Kisumu, Kenya to build 3 centers which will impact the "Street Kid" population there. Year one (from now until September 2010) we will raise enough money to build a Drop In Center. In year two, we will raise funds to build a Transition Home. And in year 3, we will raise the funds to build a Computer Center. 100% of funds donated to this cause will be sent to the organization in Kenya that will build and operate these centers.

Right now we are raising funds to build a Drop In Center.
This is a structure designed to serve Street Kids by simply providing a place for them to spend their day. The center will be staffed by volunteers who will love these students in multiple ways: By giving them someone to talk to and be invested in by; by teaching them about hygiene and healthy practices; by teaching AIDS awareness; etc. Students will not live at this center. It is designed to merely provide education and a safe environment for the day.

How: Construction of a Drop In Center costs a grand total of $10,000. This makes it fully operational. Students are working in small groups to creatively raise this money. Students might coordinate bake sales, talent shows, work parties, babysitting nights, etc. All money raised by students will go to the cause.

Why: Kisumu is home to over 1,000 "Street Kids" (children under 12 who have no parents and no place to live.)

If you have any further questions regarding this cause, please email Pastor Bob @ .
