Jesus prayed this in what we refer to as “The Lord’s prayer” as a model to his disciples on how to pray. I grew up thinking the kingdom of God was heaven only, but the reality is that Jesus came to earth in order to establish the kingdom of God here on earth. We live in an era where there is an overlap of time – this present, evil age (just watch world news to know that) and the kingdom of God. God is looking for people to participate in welcoming the kingdom of God where people are hurting, desperate and needy.

When our local outreach team, InsideOUT, shares Christ in Seattle, they usher in the kingdom of God. When Marc and Lisa take a team to India to share Christ through English camps, they usher in the kingdom. When Nancy leads a table discussion at our ALPHA seeker group, patiently listening to questions and concerns, she ushers in the kingdom of God. When you pray (link to the prayer piece) for causes, teams, missionaries, or the burdens on your lost friends…you usher in the kingdom.
