Back to Why MOPS? My MOPS Story When I was first a new mom, I didn't really think I needed MOPS. I mostly went because of a friend. But as the years have gone by I realize more and more just how valuable these group of women are in my life. Through MOPS I have made lasting friendships, grown as a woman/mother/wife/friend, and found encouragement and strength in knowing I'm not alone in the struggles and joys of raising young children. I'm not the only mom to deal with issues of guilt, and questions like "am I doing this right?" I have heard many times MOPS, International use the comparison that we moms are juice boxes with about ten straws of needy children, cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, keeping everyone fed physically/mentally/ emotionally/spiritually, and pretty soon we get so sucked dry we have nothing left for ourselves or our families. MOPS has been a wonderful place for me to fill up my juice box so to speak. I leave feeling refreshed, encouraged, and strengthened. I have gained valuable information from our speakers and leaders in how to raise my family, strengthen my marriage, and meet my needs. Some of you may worry about leaving your child in childcare. What if your child cries? Well, my daughter was a total mama's girl. It took a while, and she still cries when I first drop her off, but I know that she is being loved and well cared for and she ends up having lots of fun. And she won't remember any of it when she's 12 Ü I have learned that, by taking the time to come to MOPS I am not only doing something great for me, I'm doing something great for my family. Because when I'm filled up, I have more to give. |
