Choir and Orchestra

The Celebration Ministry is a great place to serve if your talents and gifts are in music, media or the arts. Opportunities begin at the first grade level and continue on up through adults. If you sing, act, dance, play an instrument or have technical skills then it's time to get connected! There's nothing more exciting than being used of God to make a difference!

Celebration Choir
Overlake’s Celebration Choir provides an excellent opportunity for singers with a heart for God and a love for music. The choir participates in the Sunday morning services on the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month from September through June. In addition to their Sunday morning involvement, the choir brings fresh excitement to the year through outreach productions. Rehearsals each Wednesday at 7 pm combine hard work in an atmosphere of genuine love and Christian fellowship. While auditions are not required for this ministry, membership here at Overlake is. We welcome singers of all ages to this dynamic ministry!

Orchestra
Performing like a studio orchestra, we play a huge variety of styles as the needs dictate, and are built on a foundation of a rhythm section. From time to time we put together a stage band, or even a small mixed section of horns to play with the rhythm section. Sometimes we feature only the strings or woodwinds, and sometimes we do all of the above in the same service! You can see why we think of ourselves as an entire instrumental department and not just as an orchestra.

As the hub of the instrumental ministry, the orchestra typically plays the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month for the worship and choir specials. The smaller ensembles play on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. We also use the orchestra for special concerts and productions. If you play a standard orchestra or band instrument, don’t hesitate to drop by a regular Wednesday rehearsal and check us out!

Rhythm Section Players
This exciting, creative and tight-knit ministry requires a high level of commitment and professionalism. Serving as a stand-alone unit, and as support for the Overlake soloists, choir, orchestra, vocal team and productions, the rhythm section enjoys a wide variety of musical styles. If you like a challenge, have a servant's heart, read music charts, are versatile, and, above all, want to grow in Christ, then check out the rhythm section ministry! It’s more than just a rhythm section!

Ensembles
Ensembles provide that small group experience for the serious musician here at Overlake. These groups perform throughout the year here at Overlake as well as in the community. The groups not only work very hard toward musical excellence but also develop spiritually and form many lasting friendships. A high level of commitment is required by participants who apply and audition to be part of each group.

KIDstuf Singers (Grades 3-6)
The Overlake kids choir provides an excellent opportunity to learn and communicate Biblical truths through music. Weekly rehearsals are fun and fast paced where musical and spiritual instruction is given in a loving environment. Visit the KIDstuf singers page for more information.
