Biblical Counseling

The Bible commands us to bear one another’s burdens...but we can only help when a person walking through a crisis lets us know. Overlake has a number of trained biblical counselors who understand emotional pain, dashed dreams and God’s love.

These volunteers are caring, committed Christians who have a wealth of life experiences, biblical understanding and a deep relationship with Jesus. They are available to speak with you during daytime and evening hours.

Bibblical Counseling is kept confidential and no fee is charged because the counselors volunteer their time (counselees are are encouraged to make a donation/offering to support the counseling ministry).

To apply for counseling, download and complete an application (Adobe Reader is required); then fax, mail, or e-mail the application to Overlake. You can also leave the application at OCC Reception during office hours or at the Mallway Information Center during Sunday services. Applicants will be matched as soon as possible with an appropriate biblical counselor.

Biblical Counselor Training Classes

Overlake's Biblical Counselor Training will teach you how to help adults, couples and families in their time of need. The biblical insight you gain will also help YOU grow personally, in your marriage and other relationships.

OCC offers two levels of classes for people interested in becoming a biblical counselor. Fundamentals in Biblical Counseling trains you to be a biblical counselor. Issues in Biblical Counseling is for people wanting to expand their biblical counseling knowledge. The "fundamentals" class is required to become an OCC biblical counselor; the "issues" class is not...though it is HIGHLY recommended.

Tuesday evening classes are scheduled regularly depending on the number of people interested. Please review the "fundamentals" and/or "issues" links above and then let us know of your interest by e-mailing Marilyn Patrick in OCC's Biblical Counseling office or calling her at 425.895.5923.
