Pastor of Foster Care and Adoption Ministries
Job Description: The position is responsible for providing the leadership, vision, implementation, and pastoral support at Overlake Christian Church for the local expression of the Orphan Care Initiative related to the promotion and support of foster care and adoption. The position would develop or expand on ministry services that focus on prevention, transitional care, and permanence. The efforts would identify effective ways to support biological families, adoptive or foster parents, social service workers, as well as children who have been adopted or are involved in the foster care system. These programs would be developed with a team of volunteers and in cooperation with other ministries at the church. Our efforts would not be limited to serving the church congregation but also engage in our larger community to tackle the issues and failings that put children at risk of homelessness, neglect, trauma, and abuse.
The position would develop new ministries as well as oversee existing ministries including but not limited to:
-Training, recruiting, and supporting foster care and adoptive families,
-Create new and innovative programs to equip, educate, and inspire the OCC congregation to care for vulnerable children and families in our community,
-Speaking and training opportunities to lead and equip the church in these areas,
-Provide leadership to The Refresh Conference and Refresh Conference Team,
-Training, recruiting, and supporting volunteers,
-Develop ways to support and encourage DCYF staff and local offices,
-Assist with Bridge Receiving Center for children entering into foster care,
-Work with volunteers and DCYF to oversee our family visitation center,
-Organizing iBelong backpack program efforts,
-Develop and facilitate support groups for adoptive and foster families

Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministries, Social Work, or Sociology preferred but not required.
Seminary work or pastoral training and experience preferred but not required
