Thank you for your interest in having your wedding at Overlake Christian Church. We’re pleased that you're considering our facility for this very special time in your life. The following answers to many of the most frequently asked questions may help you with your preliminary wedding planning.
As it is our desire to make your wedding day a special, God-honoring event, you will be assigned a Wedding Coordinator and a Reception Coordinator to guide you through Overlake Christian Church’s wedding policies and assist you in planning your rehearsal, ceremony and reception.
IS PRE-MARRIAGE COUNSELING NECESSARY?
ALL couples wishing to be married at Overlake Christian Church must participate in pre-marital counseling and meet biblical standards for marriage. At your request an Overlake Christian Church pastor will discuss these biblical guidelines with you. It is required that couples attend OCC’s 8-week pre-marriage class or provide proof of equivalent counseling.
DO WE NEED AN OCC PASTOR?
You may request an Overlake pastor, or you may have another Christian pastor officiate at your wedding.
SUGGESTED HONORARIUMS
The Pastor will invest considerable time to make your ceremony a special time for you. This will include meeting with you to plan the details you want in your wedding, the rehersal, your wedding ceremony, and any travel time. Depending on the time involved, we suggest an honorarium of $250 to $350. Feel free to discuss this with your pastor.
HOW LONG CAN WE USE THE CHAPEL?
Our Chapel is available to you for a total of seven hours. (This allows for one hour for the rehearsal, four hours prior to the start of your ceremony, one hour for the ceremony, and one hour of cleanup.) If extra time is requested, there will be an additional charge.
HOW LONG CAN WE USE THE RECEPTION ROOMS?
Reception rooms are available to you for a total of eight hours. (The estimated use of the time is two hours for set-up and decorating; four hours for the reception; and two hours for clean-up afterward.)
WHAT IS THE LATEST TIME OF DAY WE CAN SCHEDULE OUR WEDDING?
A wedding ceremony without a reception can be scheduled to start as late as 7:00 pm. Weddings with receptions must be totally finished, including clean up by 9 pm. If extra time is requested, there will be an additional charge.
HOW MANY GUESTS CAN WE HAVE?
OCC can accommodate up to 400 guests. For receptions with more than 250 guests, 2 rooms are required. There will be an addition charge for the extra room.
WHEN IS THE REHEARSAL SCHEDULED?
Rehearsals are held the day before your wedding. Your Wedding Coordinator will work with you to arrange a convenient time.
WHEN IS FINAL PAYMENT DUE?
Final payment must be made to the Wedding Ministry office no later than two weeks before your wedding date.
IS CHILDCARE PROVIDED?
Childcare can not be provided and Nursery facilities are not available to wedding parties. Children must have adult supervision at all times.
MAY WE SERVE WINE AT OUR WEDDING?
Absolutely no alcohol is permitted on our campus for any purpose.
WHAT KIND OF CANDLES CAN WE USE?
Wedding taper candles will be provided by Overlake for the wedding ceremony. All other candles must be in an enclosed holder that is sturdy, heat resistant and can contain the entire candle in a melted state.
WHAT ABOUT MUSIC AND DANCING?
It is our desire as a church to reflect Christ-honoring values in all we say and do. As a result, we require all music and dancing on church premises to be non-offensive and in good taste.
Due to the size of our campus, other events may be scheduled in the building on the day of your wedding. However, great care will be taken to protect the intimacy of your wedding.
